Girls power

1st January 2025—the first day of a new year and a truly memorable one for me, my ex-students, and their parents. My ex-students—Devika Loke, Kavyanjali Panchal, Gauri Mestry, Aishwarya Jambhale, and Saisha Sawant—together known as Team Girls, made us all proud. Let me share the story behind this moment of pride.

It all began when my friend, Atul Morey, approached me with a project idea. Atul and his friends envisioned empowering girls through skill development, and knowing I was the Headmistress of a renowned girls’ school, he sought my help. Without hesitation, I embraced the proposal, and that’s where our journey started.

Atul visited the school and introduced the idea of website development to the 10th-grade students. He offered to teach interested students for free and created a WhatsApp group for smooth communication. His plan was simple: train these students, bring them website development orders, and ensure they worked directly with him, without any middlemen. The girls would earn money for their efforts, and the school management, represented by Adhiraj Lokegaokar Sir, generously provided the necessary infrastructure.

Out of 80 students, 20 initially joined the program. Under Atul’s dedicated guidance, their training began. However, only six students—our future Team Girls—stuck with the program until the end. This training period coincided with their vacation after SSC exams, providing them the perfect opportunity to focus.

The first breakthrough came when Atul secured an order for the girls. They developed their first website and earned ₹2,000 each. This first income, at the age of 16, was an unforgettable moment for them and their parents. In a small ceremony held at school, Adhiraj Sir and I, along with the proud parents, celebrated their achievement. Atul handed each student an envelope containing their earnings, and the school issued certificates of appreciation as a token of encouragement.

The news spread quickly. Parents proudly shared updates on WhatsApp, and the story inspired many others. The students, despite beginning their college studies in FYJC, remained determined to continue working.

Soon, the team received their second order—a website for the prestigious Vatsalya Trust in Rajasthan, through Nisha Jain Madam, who was deeply impressed by their work. While one member, Sakshi Tambe, had to step away due to personal reasons, the remaining five members worked tirelessly to deliver an excellent product.

Nisha Madam, along with her family, personally met the girls in Mumbai to appreciate their efforts. She praised their hard work and offered them another opportunity to develop a website for her brother. Her heartfelt encouragement was a significant milestone for Team Girls.

This experience not only brought Atul’s dream to life but also proved the potential of these young girls. As their teacher and Headmistress, I couldn’t be prouder of their achievements. The support of their parents, Atul’s unwavering efforts, and the faith everyone placed in this project made all the difference.

Looking ahead, I am confident that Team Girls will achieve even greater heights after their 12th exams. Their story is a testament to the power of belief, collaboration, and perseverance.

God bless you, Team Girls. May your future be as bright as your determination.
